let down

Post by Krisso The Great »

Anybody else feel let down by the 404$ inability to resample a perfect loop?
Had the sx over 3 years now and feel deeply let down with the fact I can't get the beats ' bang on' beyond 1 resample .. ( you know .. not being able to have the first kick sit right is annoyin
as fuck)
Was the 303 the same or did it have perfect looping?

I love the 404 but its like having a Ferrari speed stricted to 60mph.. Fuuuuuck!

Hit Reverse. Start/End points. Move knob 3 to the right until you hear the clicking from the kick disappear.

I don't think i have to explain how to trim samples. Im sure you know.

Obviously before all this you gotta try to make it a loop using the mark button.

i think on most SPs you have to set a threshold with the recording lvl so when you resample the start point is perfect. So do that

Good tips from ImOnlySleeping. Will have to experiment w rec threshold- never used that feature on any of my SP. Reverse tip good too. I am good with trimming- once I really understood that every time you enter/exit start/end point button the knobs are essentially reset to 0 at the middle but with the new adjusted sample points. I know- basic as hell. :)

And yes it is frustrating at times re-sampling and re-trimming, I feel ya. I seem to recall the loop capture feature on my 555 could be helpful but maybe not perfect in this scenario- I don't use it much I bring my 404SX w me. I have a battery pack so maybe I will rock the 555 a bit more now.

This is why the 505's waveform editing is FTW

I love my 505! I need to look for a battery like I have for the other SP but that will run the 14V 505. Was bummed when I could not take it roaming w me like the 404SX and others after I got the battery pack.

the 303 and 202 will loop beats seamlessly if you trim them up to your desired point. I can't imagine the 404 being an different. YOu can adjust the volume inputs with the control knobs of the source button or it will set a standard volume.

There's not a hardware sampler I can think of that doesn't have a latency on start/stop when sampling. Trimming is part of the beast you gotta wrestle with.

also resample the loop actually looping a few times around and mark out your loop from there, reverse method is the way to go though, 303 is great for lengthy loops (or semi finished short beats that end up being a minute or so that you wanna loop up on one pad) because of how the reverse button works, lets you jump right to the end to hear how on point your loop is
