Hi guys,
Thanks for this great forum. I was on here constantly for a week before my
404 arrived yesterday ! Sorry i didnt post yesterday, but i was applying all the great tips and tricks id stored in my head, to my first track !!
Thanks especially for the flying lotus ! That is an awesome way of building similar patterns .
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quite simply,
I've got an old tr-626 (ebay ) coming today. I hope to sync up the 16 pattern step sequencer to the 404 via MIDI.
This is so I can have control for the drum samples from the tr-626
and have control of the none percussive samples through the internal pattern sequencer in the 404.
Is this possible or does the fact you are triggering a sample bank externally somehow disable the ability to use the inner pattern sequencer.
Also, Just to check - There is no way to play 2 patterns at once in the 404, and the above solution would be the only way to control drums and a seperate music track at once.
Sorry for the long noobie post !!
Mine arrived yesterday! 1 external (626) sequencer question

the 404's internal sequencer only responds to start/stop MIDI messages
so you can't send it messages like "switch from pattern A3 to A4"
but you can use the 626's sequencer to program all the 404's samples as individual MIDI notes (i'm not familiar with the 626 or it's functionality though). then you would simply leave the 404 in sample mode and it's pads will be triggered when you've programmed that note to be triggered from the 626
or you could start Pattern Mode going and then switch the 404's patterns manually

hope that helps,
let me know if you got further questions
