What is the slicer used for?

I read the description in the manual but I'm still a little confused as to what kind of situation you would use it in?If someone could also explain how to use it that would be great...thanks

It slices the sound up, for a more detailed description just push the button and turn knobs.

apply it to a long sample. its like an "arpeggiator" if thats the right word to use.

Oh, okay thanks. Ive been messing around with it and I also wonder if anyone ever uses it to mark where to chop samples evenly? Again any help is greatly appreciated
