013 Battle 13 (Unluckeeeee)

Post by 606man »

I dunno whether this should start until the v-day battle is done.... the decision is up to the boss (Juxt)! It may be a good idea to let the v-day run its course first [after all zshare has a 60-day grace period]..

anywho, here's the samples for battle 13, the unlucky battle!

The drums on these tunes need beefing up; a job for the isolator/filter/subsonic effects methinks. I just couldn't find any 'bangin drum tracks amongst my records, apart from new hard dance records (and who wants to try to make hip-hop from those??? ). The other sounds are quite interesting though; especially the guitar on refried boogie - I can't wait to hear what you guys come up with from that guitar!

canned heat - refried boogie part 2.mp3 - 4.78MB

(From 1968's "Living the Blues")

risque - burn it up mr dj.mp3 - 5.38MB

(1983)

15 years from the first sample to the second, and 25 years since then to now........

ps - they are by necessity 'extracts' from the originals - refried boogie goes for 45 min (!!!) and burn it up goes for 11 min (like most 80s disco).

The v-day one is nearly over - this one's just starting.

I had a good time getting a decent kick drum sound outta this... lotsa compression, filtering and a bit of overdrive get it thumping.

Same with the bass - it's all there, it just needs a LOT of processing. Good thing we have all those lovely FX :D

Yeah I reckon any part of the samples can be flipped - with a lot of work lol

Nice job Juxt - I seem to be turning this thing into a hard-house-glitch track at the moment, which I don't really want to do... It's great to hear what others do with the sampe sounds sources! I'm so addicted to this concept now!!!

Hey ppl, what's the deadline for this battle, 29th or so? I couldn't participate in the V-battle unfortunately, too busy being busy, but I definately feel like joining in on the fun again.
I will be in France untill probably the 26th or 27th of february and I've got most of my gear with me here anyways, so I might as well take a stab at this.
