the step-write (microscope) function is so confusing

Post by LesPasta »

it just isn't very helpful to write in step mode... or microscope mode i guess..

anyone have a system that works for them ?

I tend to start writing, then I decide to remove a note and I mess everything up and lose my beat.... it sucks

One useful thing to do is to note (to write on paper) the number parts of the beats in order to knkw where to place/things. I learned that on the mc909 and on the sp606 as they got a similar microscope editing. But, as you, me too was disappointed at the very beginning. Another strategy is to "compose" steps whole listening the pattern.
Also, sometime is less frustrating to combine real and step mode.
