Yeah man, people have brought this up before. I thinks its a combination of the fact that they no longer make these things, and more and more people are gravitating towards more lofi, hardware samplers and shit. We are in the midst of a classic gear revival, the prices of cassettes and cassette recorders has skyrocketed as well, and vinyl is being pressed more and more and prices keep going up.

It's also due in part some shitty economical happenings these days...
Anyone else notice how much a regular bottle of soda costs these days either?

Yeah, i hope that they will bring a lot more supadupa high end midi controllers for ableton and traktor so that all the music kids and upcoming producers and djs of the future stay doomed to their computers and don't even think of buying the last gears on earth... oh maybe the culture of solo hardware music production will die out... and the secret silver sp 909 or the black mamba sp 101 will never see the light

It's probably supply/demand. Lots of demand, yet little supply (or few users out there looking to sell their St-224's, sp404/505/606's). Sometimes it's just being patient, and sometimes what you're looking for mad people are trying to sell. If it's the other way around, ask yourself should you pay more now and score what you want? Or just be waiting until the right deal is in front of you?
I asked around here, and located a ST-224 Sampletrack from somebody willing to sell one of his 5 units, so maybe it doesn't hurt to ask around here as well. Cuz closed mouths don't get fed.

My local pawn store is hooking me up with a Sp505 for just $160! I've never really owned this SP before (just the 202/303/606/808), but all it needs is a memory card, and I can pick this puppy up in July. (While I get to know the ST-224)
So it pays to shop around, check Craigslist, Guitar Center, your local pawn shop, or anybody here......A decent sampler just doesn't have to cost a arm and a leg.
