Resample with external pads?

Trying to figure out if it's possible to resample with the 404 and MPD16. So far, the MPD pads will not trigger resample-recording. I can play the samples with the MPD, but when I try to resample, the pads on the SP just keeps blinking until I hit the pads on the SP. Anybody have luck with this, maybe using some other pads?

What you are trying to do requires external recording gear. Even on SX model.

Coo, thanks. Guess I can use one of my QY70s between the two. I like the SP pads, but they're just not the same of course.
