Sampler thesis: Behind the Beat

OK so I just stumbled across this awesome thesis by a dude who loves DJ Shadow, Madlib & Flying Lotus as the rest of us.

The article primarily relates to the ideals of instrumental hip hop and MPC based production methods but there's loads of crossover with how we use the Roland/Boss SP samplers. Plenty to read here & learn/comprehend (if you're already across standard chopping techniques). Either way, the dude who wrote this knows his shit:

Thanks for posting that. I like that Araabmuzik was referred to as an "mpc finger drumming virtuoso." Not something you find in every 70 page thesis...

Thanks a BUNCH for sharing this. I've been listening to "Endtroducing" alot lately before I even saw your post. And later on I also see that's Madlib in there, one of my biggest inspirations.
