I got a korg monotron. I mainly use it for recording myself twisting knobs and just chopping up the weird sounds i get out of it.
Im looking to get a bigger more advanced synth and im looking at the microkorg. Sorry if this is a noob question but aside from being able to play actual chords and play the synth like a proper keyboard (unlike the monotron) can i also just twist the knobs and get a bunch of weird sounds out of it? or is it more built for creating patches that you then play like a keyboard?

Re: Microkorg question
Well, the MicroKorg is a proper synthesizer.
Synthesizers can make an infinite amount of sounds.
The key is to learn about synthesis, then the sky's the limit.

Re: Microkorg question
The Microkorg is a pretty nifty little synth
It has controller knobs on the top that can be controlled in realtime.Check out this Dorian Concept video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdRP3dQ9QOM
There's also a free program editor so you don't have the navigate the painful editing of the microkorg via hardware

Re: Microkorg question
The micron and M audio venom are both good "cheapish" synths that will get the job done. All in the $200 used range.

I love my microkorg, has a great raw sound for the price.
