problems with looping my beat

Post by sabina »

Hi!

I'm also starting with my sp-404 sx but please be patient :wink: :D
There is a preset kick that i would like to record and loop but i don't know how. Is it possible that you can record only the preset pattern? .So i record the kick with Audacity and than i sampled it :? So now i sampled the kick but how can i managed it that the kick goes on for example 3 min ? If i loop the kick it stops after 8 measers and than it starts again but the kick has to go on..

Thankzzzzz!

Hi, there are three ways that I can think of:

A) Sequence the kick sample on Pattern Sequencer (then hit play and go back to sample mode);
B) Sample to BPM or Mark to BPM and set the kick sample to LOOP;
C) Sequence/Edit on a DAW and load a sample that goes on for as long as you need it to.

A) Won't work if you're resampling but B) and C) will.
A) and B) would be suited for live performance, can't see a reason to use C).

Also, check the manual.

congrats with your new 404, something that might simplify things for you is to scrap using the pattern sequencer and the preset sounds build songs by resampling over and over again for example, laying down a drum pattern live, then looping that and resampling over it. it takes some practice but this allows you to be free of any time grid, nothing wrong with sequences tho, just takes ALOT of patience. click click click click
