SP-303 for Effects On a Live Vocal Mic

Post by geographr »

Hi all, I'm new here (and to samplers overall), happy to join what looks like a rad group of musicians. I searched all over the www for an answer to this, but haven't found a clear answer.

I'm looking to use a 303 for providing both sample playback and vocal effects during live performance. My goal is to have a vocal mic run to to 303, and have it put on reverb and tape echo to the live vocals. Simultaneously, I'd be playing back synth samples, ideally with different effects. I'd love to be able to run a second vocal mic in, and do the same thing.

I'm sure it would be better to do a VE-20 for vox separate from the 303, but we're on a tight budget.

Is there a way to do live vocal effects on top of sample playback? Thanks!

For using the effects live, yes.

You would have to arm it (set it to record), by hitting record then selecting a free pad. Once it is armed, it will allow for signal to pass through.

Hope that helps.

or just hit the "external in"-button and choose an effect.

you will be able to run effects on the microphone while playing samples, but the 303 can only do one effect at the time, so no other different effects on the samples.
