Perfect Combo SP-404SX with Roland Sonic Cell
What up fellas new to the site been tinkering with music for about 5 years now. Really fed up with the mainstream jokers so I figured I'd start making my own. Man do I miss the mid-90's. Anyways I just got the 404SX to pair with my Sonic Cell which I love. I am not a novice to this and have many unfinished works but wanna finally start tracking. You guys got any good ideas on how to pair these up and streamline a workflow. Main objective is sampling but use Sonic Cell to augment with bread n butter sounds plus it's effect combined with SX is quite major...give me some of your thoughts....again happy to be here an look forward to vibing with you guys n oh i use my MPC500 strictly to sequence (buggy lil thing but a great sequencer) it all but welcome any ideas you have on that as well.

the sonic cell looks pretty cool, i like 'module' style synths. if you want to use all of that gear simultaneously for tracking, there are a few different ways you could do it... it looks like that thing comes with software but i'll just pretend it doesn't
i would suggest going the midi route. you can split patches on different midi channels in the sonic cell and assign them to midi tracks on your MPC. i don't know how familiar you are with midi but once you create a good template on the MPC it will come in handy forever. the 404 i would put last in the chain. now you can sample what you've done on the MPC/sonic cell and manipulate/chop the audio anyway you like. you could also use the MPC for real-time pitching of your samples before sending them to the 404...
if you are making a song that is tracked out in layers, you can export those samples on the 404's card, export to computer, transfer to MPC card, and mix/trim it in the MPC!
That's is how I set it up sometimes, except my 404 is og, my mpc is a 2500 and my 'rack' snyth is a korg o5/rw.
