Plastic Heart EP

Post by Les Braun »

Plastic Heart is my project as Les Braun, along with Joel Muhl. This was actually a school project to create a 6-track EP of our own intuitively created style, which me made out of combination of sampling along with compositional instrumentalization and vocalization. This is the end-product!

I'm still using the SP-404 along with my Tascam 4-Track tapedeck to sample vinyl, but this time along with a lot of synths and live instruments, so this doesn't sound like anything I've done before...
This is probably the tape that I worked the most on so far production-wise, so I thought I'd share with you all! It'd be dope if you guys could check it out, spread the word and support us (if you dig the music).
Also, any feedback would be appreciated!

Your hard work shows thru the music.

Definitely good, very soft, reverb heavy , nice layers and synths sound pretty cool too...blind/mind and ultraviolet were my fav. I like the effect on the vocals alot. What kind of live instruments? Did u record at home or sum sort of studio?

There are a lot of synths sounds coming in and out, for me a few to many at times like on ultraviolet. But I like ultraviolet the best anyways. Thanks for sharing.

great job, shows a lot of ideas and proves your skills at composing complete, 'organic' songs

the instrumental passages are interesting and well weighed (save for the ending of blind/mind, I'd have cut that ukulele passage around at 2:00 :D )

you might want to check the levels for 'words in time', though: the entire song seems on the verge of clipping, and when vocals enter the mix there's a noticeable (and not too pleasant, imho) distortion

Thanks! I'm learning how to mix properly now, so I might redo the mastering once I have break from school!
Please spread the word people!
