How to play samples simultaneously?

Post by tom84100 »

Hi there, am struggling to work out how I can play samples simultaneously and starting at the same time. i.e. I want to press 1 pad and several samples will play together. Is this possible?

Basically I have the stems of a track that I want to spread out over the pads, but I want them all playing at the same time, if you see what I mean...

Sorry if it's a stupid question, couldn't find an answer anywhere though.

Cheers.

do you have the manual?

RESAMPLE, bro. If you have several samples that you want to play at the same time, resample them all on top of each other.

If you want them spread out over multiple pads, you can't trigger them all at once except for hitting them all as close to the same time as possible.

Or make a pattern of them all layered. ...you have a lot of options here...

Yikes. Sound's like you should invest in a multi-tracker. There's hardware styles (Boss, Tascam, Fostex, etc.) that you can probably find on eBay or at a pawn shop, or -ick- buy new...You can also consider Audacity, GarageBand, Logic, Ableton, etc. These software multi-trackers are also great for chopping samples. Layering them in a pattern is a great way to spread them out, as K.DeStefano pointed out. However, I worry that you may find some of the samples may possibly drift out of sync over time.
Maybe consider doing some extensive chopping and sequencing using the Pattern arranger.

Cheers to anyone using a 404 to make remixes using entire stem tracks. Good luck with that.

Thanks for the info guys.

The tracks themselves are made in Logic, I've just basically got some parts of the track bounced to WAV and was hoping I might be able to multi-track them ala clip launching in ableton live.

Hmmm... looks like what I'm thinking of might not be possible. Not a problem as such though, just wanted to know if it was do-able or not. Probably was a bit ambitious.

Thanks

Depending on your sample it's quite easy to do such thing.

If you did like super long sample then there is like no way to relauch them if you fucked up, but if you do 8 bars, or less, then you can press all the pad together once they,re done.

That's I usually work, alot of 8 or 4 bar sample, and I have to trigger them at the same time. I will usually have a constant one on loop mode to help me a tad, but once you start jamming that way, it becomes pretty easy.

What's wrong with just using the pattern sequencer? ...... Sequence the sounds one time, then you just need to press the one pattern button to trigger multiple sounds. Maybe I'm missing the question.
