Basically I was wondering if it's possible to sample a pattern to a pad as a new sample... is this somehow possible or do I need to record externally and than sample that? Just curious.
Yep - one feature the 555 has is the ability to turn a loop into a sample... unfortunately you have to record externally with the 606. In practice it's not too much trouble, but I think the vast majority of 606 owners would have expected that feature
you have to chop the new sample so that it has the same tempo as the original source, if you have a different tempo on the pattern you put on a pad it's 'cause the sample's loop points weren't set correctly.
It seems a bit silly of Roland to me... I mean the 'EXT SEQ SAMPLING' works a treat - I use it to capture sequences from the MC-505 all the time. If it can do that, why not have a 'INT SEQ SAMPLING' function????????
Yeah, it's a bit odd indeed, sampling patterns internally somehow seems like a very useful function to me... just think of the Dj-style effects you could do in a minute or so just by resampling a few patterns into new ones. Would be a great workflow.
As for SP-555s, perhaps we can do some publicity work for Roland... they'll arrange free SP-555s and in exchange we make some youtube movies so more people will buy them? The reason why I've ultimately bought the SP-555 and SP-606 was purely youtube videos showing them in action, so ....
