Beat drop with isolator help!

Post by joetssy »

I'm having a little bit of trouble with a track I'm working on, would appreciate any help. Pretty much I have a series of patterns I want to play with the occasional beat drop that mutes everything but the snare. On top of the patterns, I am playing live samples.

To make this drop happen, I use the remain button to highlight every sample except for the snare, so when I push on the isolator with everything turned down, you get the beat drop. The problem is, whenever I push isolator while jamming out with my live samples, it isolates the sample I just triggered instead of everything I have highlighted with remain.

In order for me to get the beat dropping again after I push isolator and have the live samples being isolated, I have to hit remain again and highlight all of the samples I want to mute again... This is frustrating as I end up doing it around 10 times while the track is playing out as I always return to the live samples.

The only think i could do for a solution is to make more patterns with the samples I usually play live being sequenced, but I really don't want to do that as I enjoy improvising. Is there any way to hold the effect on the samples I have highlighted with remain?? or is there just another way I can mute the tracks I want for the drop?

trigger drop with tap tempo+isolator. much more responsive and won't put it to only one pad next time...

while holding down tap tempo, hold down isolator for the duration of your drop, then let go.

yeah thats the first thing I figured out how to do, I was gettin frustrated after around an hour of sampling for the first time, but my friend showed me how. Just new start point, resample, new start point etc. Its just the adjusting the start and end points that kill me... The thing I love most about the SP is that your not staring at a screen but sometimes I wish I had a waveform... whateva tho thanks again!

So this seemed to be working last night, but now when I hold tap tempo and push isolator the drop works fine, but every time I push another sample, it will isolate that sample instead... i don't really know whats happening..

Oh i figured it out... If a pad is not highlighted under remain and you trigger that pad after the effect drop, it will switch the FX to that pad... I just have to keep everything under remain I guess even though I wanted to trigger those samples during the drop oh well
