Sp 606 Song Mode?

I'm trying to use song mode because i'm taking my sp to play out live and i'd like to just set it so the patterns all play with no mistakes, and when I go into song mode and edit song, insert pattern. insert the first pattern, and when I scroll down to step 2 to insert pattern 2 it always clones pattern 1. There is no mention in the manual on how to change the patterns you insert, and i've tried every button on the machine, PLEASE help!!!

Try entering song mode and press the REC on the sequencer. You should be able to select from your patterns then...
