404sx pattern copy

Hey guys, I just picked up a great deal on a mint condition 404sx and i'm loving it so far (my first SP was the 505, great machine but sooooo slow)

Anyway, i'm probably making things up here or I have not read or listened properly but I thought the coolest thing about the 404sx is it now has the pattern copy ability? So you have sample banks and pattern banks but I was sure you would be able to bounce a pattern to a pad on the sample banks? I can copy patterns between pads on the pattern banks but thats not what I want.

Have I completely mislead myself or am I doing something wrong?

you can't bounce a pattern to a pad, the 555 can do something like that though with loop capture

Ah right. Thanks for the reply dude. Its not a huge problem. Pattern select mode will be ok for me then, or i'll resample right into ableton.
