Still one of my favorite beatsmiths of all time, but strange to me that for his popularity he hasn't developed a stronger live game. I still wouldn't mind shaking his hand, though.

Btw, Dibia$e...looking forward to seeing you in NOLA next weekend with Samiyam (who is a hell of a performer, too). Can't wait...

btw good lookin out on the cds man definitely appreciate that.

yeah nola is going to be crazy !!!! sam is a fool, computerjay is insane and dj cenepede is very ill. definitely well chop it up out there. good to connect with sp fam in person

i understand that he doesn't really like performances, if i were him i'd just quit doing them (but of course that's what brings in the money nowadays)

btw Dibiase, is the vinyl for your machines album still forthcoming or is it 'indefinitely delayed'?

its more like mumblin tho.lol he might drank too much of this bottle of crown royal they put in front of him while rockin.

machine hate me vinyl im waitin on word for that from kev. but i will have a remix project of machine hate me near the time the vinyl drops. with remixes from pudge, ras g, dak, thavieus beck, mike gao, klipmode, dizz1 to name a few.

dope, i'll be on the lookout for that. good list of names right there.

So did you get a chance to talk to him about how you felt in person ? I'm assuming you had full access since you opened-- I'd be really interested to hear what he had to say about the situation and why things went down like they did.

I saw madlib a few months back and he was pulling the same shit. Talkin smack to the crowd, not playing his music and gettin boo's from the audience. All they wanted to hear was classic madlib beats, not madlibs random ass records of other people.

I'm confused as to how a link to that vid was an answer to my question...but I did see a bunch of blonde rich kids in the audience, and some dick in the front row actually reach up and touch madlibs equipment--which he took completely in stride, actually. You gotta keep in mind that at this point, Madlib probably has some pretty extreme contempt for a sizeable ammount of his "fanbase"-when probably over half of them weren't around before Jay passed- who was more than just a collaborater, but a good friend to him as well. I can completely understand him doing shows like this, honestly. I'm sure the show he puts on live has a lot to do with the audience he's performing for. And no real disrespect intended- but If this is such an issue for you, I'm sure you had at least an opportunity to bring it up to him face to face...it's honstly kinda wack to gain some extra noteriety by opening for madlib..making money from it-and then immediately start posting vids an forum threads dissing him. You're an extremely talented beatmaker/performer- but regardless of that-if you really thought he was on some bullshit, you could have easily called him out on it man to man instead of just calling him out to other people on the net. This man has such an incredible body of work at this point, and been such an innovator- I think he's earned the right to perform any way he sees fit.

how i diss madlib i said i like his beats and he talented? but his performance wasnt on point . thats just honesty u may not want to accept that. even micheal jordan had off nights, but u come to his defense. i could careless who was headlining i planned on destroyin i dont get startruck off these doods. so u can honestly say u pay 30 buck to watch ur favorite producer get super drunk play a beats 20 sec. there was moments when no music was playin . u gotta have some kind of professionalism especially when u are gettin paided ,and more importantly to ur fans who paided to see u at ur best. so u probably justified mf doom havin imposters as well at shows since he has a large discography he earn his right too? im gonna discuss his set in the club right after that happened while he plastered? im cool off ppl having excuses for cats left and right. btw i didnt get extra noteriety opening for madlib. i get that from showin and proving.

Actually I was gonna bring up m.f. doom-- this is a cat who was dead broke for years after his brother died and he got dropped from his label..90% of his current fans didn't give a fuck about KMD or even knew the group ever existed until he picked the mic up again. He probably got tired of dealing w male groupies, dickhead promoters and shit like that..and was just having some fun with the imposter thing--while at the same time creating more mysique as somewhat of an enigma. I always thought that doom imposter shit was kinda dope, and pretty funny. There's no law saying you have to like or even respect everyone that buys your shit-- Kurt Cobain is a perfect example of a genius artist being contemptful of a huge part of his followers..and was famously open about it. Yea, madlib was obviously playing games with the audience a little....but guess what? From what i could see they were all still jumping around enjoying the show...which he probably found humorous, and I do too, really. As far as dissing madlib-you've already made a few comments to that effect. I'm just more curious why you're talking to us about it when you could have talked to the man himself, really. And I said you're a talented beatmaker and performer as well..and no disrespect is intended. That being said-i'm sorry-but if at least a good handful of heads weren't aware of you before the show-you definitely gained more noteriety by opening for madlib. You just agreed with someone a few posts back saying the same thing. Before anyone gets all peacenick pacifist on me- this is a simple discussion..not an arguement or anything personal. It's real shit though....just post some vids of your own performance and be thankful you got to open for him, a lot of heads on here would give one of their limbs to be on a bill with madlib.

"I like Drake too but god damn" lol definitely a half-assed performance from Madlib - but I would never expect a great performance from him anyway. Even he himself said he's a background guy and doesn't really like doing the shows. Dibiase on the other hand always got that jedi-like focus always busy with the knobs, so keep up the good work man props for that

In Dibs position I don't think I would ever confront the guy about it.. he's a grown ass man, I think its really no place for him to say anything about the matter whether he wanted to or not. I'm sure Madlib knows he aint the greatest on stage - but u gotta do the shows and get some money for the time u spent making dope beats.

exactly im a fan as well. not enough fans but so many critics. most ppl who critize have no idea what they talkin about or buy music they d/l it or go to the shows. im sure he had better nights he does tour worldwide ocasionally so thats plenty of practice.
