the 303 GOT velocity
the sp pads don't
but if you use a midi controller/keyboard you can have different velocity
i tested this the other day with the mpc2000 via the sp midi in (connected to the mpc midi out)

how would this work on a mac? i've been lurking but i've yet to find a solution

I'm using Live 8. My Mac doesn't have a mic port. Just one headphone port

you got to have a midi interface to send midi messages to the sp

i don't know, depends on your necessities...
(how many inputs, outputs, midi in/outs etc etc)

Do you have an external sound card/audio interface? Most come with a MIDI interface.
