so i went to pop one of my cf cards into the card reader and plug it into my comp, done this a hundred times before, but it didn't pop up with the normal "what do you want to do" window, so i went into my computer to open it manually, and it says i need to format the disk before i can open it......anybody ever had this issue before??? i really don't want to have to wipe a card to see if it fixes it

yeah the card works in the sampler great, i pop it out to put it in my card reader hooked up to my PC, so i can back up the card and wipe it clean and pop it back in the SP to start with a fresh card, but when i put it into the card reader it doesn't come right up with the "what would you like to do" window, so i go into my computer to select the drive (its a usb connected card reader) and when i click it, it prompts me to format the card before i can view it on my computer, which has never happened before, i've exported songs to a wav file for years now and been able to drag em right onto my desktop, as well as backing up entire cards to a folder on my desktop

i'm thinking it happened when i tried to use my card reader to drag a wav onto my friends mac, and, similar to an ipod, now the card reader is formatted to a mac, and i can't do anything until i format it again on a PC

i'm assuming if i format it once it will be back to normal, but i don't wanna lose anything, you know, i got an idea though, to find another kind of card that fits the card reader that i have and wipe that, the problem is i don't think i have any other kinds of cards that fit it, if anyone is familiar with this scenario and has a suggestion though, i'm open

yes that is your problem the mac did something to the file system and it will never work on a PC, maybe linux, you will have to record your samples out and format the card. you can try to rescue the files with linux or mac. but formatting will be the only solution.
