The probably some 303 influence in the other tracks, but I'm pretty sure those are the only ones made solely with the 303 and a portable turntable.

Yeah, but none of the tracks sound like they were produced on the sp1200.
Plus a lot of tracks have A LOT of sampling time involved, like great day today and all caps.

Just watched the redbul interview again...
http://www.redbullmusicacademy.com/LECT ... session=47

and in the middle he it's said:
interviewer: can we hear something new...? Maybe something with mf doom?
madlib: Kinda' raw
interviewer: you recorded all this with the 303 and digital board?
madlib: true

But madlib seems high as shit too.

Just read that in an interview:

Quote:
A lot of times people will be digging, pick up a record and immediately say, "Ah, there's nothing on that!"
I bet I'll find something on it! That happens all the time. I was digging with Cut Chemist and all them in Brazil. I was pulling out whatever, crazy-ass records, and niggas was like, "There ain't gonna be nothing on that record." I made a whole beat tape, they was tripping. That's the most records I ever bought in my life, right there. I spent like five Gs on sh!t you ain't never gonna see, and most of them didn't even get here. I had two boxes that got lost. Nobody knows where they are.

I did most of the Madvillain album in Brazil. Cuts like "Raid" I did in my hotel room in Brazil on a portable turntable, my (Boss SP) 303, and a little tape deck. I recorded it on tape, came back here, put it on CD, and DOOM made a song out of it. Niggas be sleeping, thinking they need all this gear.

I bet it's pretty much ONLY sp303. I can hear the vinyl sim compression on all caps on the first 4 snares.

yeah, not that this adds much, but i'm pretty sure that whole album was 99% 303.

I'm almost sure that all of madvillainy was the exact setup that interview described.. mostly because DOOM has said that he started using a 303 after working with madlib (check that special herbs collection, yall know about the metalfingers). There was also a 303 or a 404 on Dilla's the Shining on the tracks where Karriem Riggins was at..
