question about some equipment

hi i really like using my 303 to create patterns and phrases and utilizing the 303's effects. but one thing that's kinda shitty about the 303 is that you can't sequence patterns. is there a type of mpc or another sampler that i could use to record patterns from the 303 onto another sampler? and sequence the patterns on that so they sound on time. i just hate sequencing patterns in real time while i'm recording. it'd be awesome if someone could recommend something or give me some help. peacce

You could look into the SP-505 or SP-606, although I often hear good things about the MPC 1000's sequencer too. The SP-505 and SP-606 are more advanced for sure when it comes to the sequencer compared to the SP-303.

I don't know what would be the best choice though.

If you already have the patterns made I'd go for the 505 or 606. At that point you may need more than 4 tracks.

The 303 has midi in so you can use any sequencer that has midi out, so you can use a program or any external sequencers.

yah, i think i'm gonna go for the mpc 500. i've heard that it has very good sequencing. i'm not sure about other sp's. i'd kinda like to do the best of both worlds. and i've never had any experience with any type of other sampler so it'd be cool to learn some more shit.

Hey man, if you really are going for the an MPC, then save some more money and go for the MPC 1000 instead. You really won't regret it, because the MPC 500 isn't very good. That is, lots of people have issues with it (check the Akai forums) and it's not as robust build and doesn't have the excellent features the MPC 1000 has. Sóme of those features you will definitely not want to miss out on, even when paying more for it.

Off course, I don't know your budget and stuff, but if you have a choice, go for the MPC 1000.

yeah, the new 1000s come with better pads now too.

ok yah im a broke motherfucker so thats why i was leaning towards the 500 but isn't the 1000 like $300 more? what more features does it have?

Save the 3 bills, if your just using it for sequencing the 404 than a 500 will be fine, but you probably wont use it for much else as the 404 will do the other stuff better so even though it's cheaper it's kinda a waste of money for a sequencer. If you get the mpc 1000 you'll use it as a stand alone sampler as well as a sequencer for the 404. Not only does the mpc 1000 have way better features out of the box, but when you download and install the JJ OS then you'll have the editing and sampling features that come on the mpc 2500. So to make it easy, for $300 more dollars you can basically get an mpc 2500 except the 1000 has those small mpc pads and I like the 2000xl pads the most but at least they don't break like on the first generation mpc 1000.

yah i guess i might as well go for the 1000. and the only pads i'm used to are the sp's so that should be no problem but i guess it would be easier with the bigger pads. but would i lose interest in my sp's if i invest in the mpc 1000? i've seen people who have big setups but still use the sp's for the effects and shit. plus i think the 303 is awesome for making music other than hip-hop beats. it's just so simple and easy for just quick patterns or loops. but i figure the mpc is kind of like the center of all beat production. but hey thanks for the help brother. oh yah and everyone else to.
