well, sixtoo's from MTL but i don't see him around much these days. he plays shows with the laser / glitch mob types of cats. i donno if him and ghislain poirier (etc) are doing a Bridge Burner this year, but in previous years, that's been really great. thousands of peeps under the van horne overpass, rockin' out. schweet.

obvs, ninja tune is down in st-henri, and they show up at Picnik Electronique pretty regularly. that runs every weekend while it is warm, then it becomes Igloo Fest when it is cold.

same kinda thing with Mutek - a lot of the shows have a beat-heavy or dubstep vibe, and there are freebies every year.

plus there's a ton of franco hip hop but my french isn't good enough to really follow that stuff. i'm not in the scene really.

but there's stuff happening around town, for sure.

Personally if i move somewhere new..i'll search for roland sp boss dr sample on craigslist and then email a seller asking them if they make music... exchange links etc. meet up have coffee, pass tapes, smoke la weedumskis, party etc.
