EQing your sample before you record it or after ?

Post by LesPasta »

I lke to EQ my samples when I record them.

since there is no EQ in the 202 and my turntabe has a built in pre it doesn't run

through a mixer....

So when you guys are sampling directly into the 202 do you run through EQ first

or maybe EQ samples when you move them to another device.. ?

I've never EQ'd a sample before throwing it in the 202. I haven't had the need to. But now that you mention it, it seems like a good process especially if I want all my loops to be at the same level. Thanks for the tip!

yea since I started using a portable turntable I've been running it through a receiver but I lost the receiver a while back and started going directly from my turntable into my SP(s) ... the signal was strong enough but didn't sound right, a little EQ fixed it right up

now i'm back on my 202, but just for sampling, not production so I was wondering EQ before or after... I think before is logical

I eq on the way in, yeah. But sometimes I have to re-do the sample cuz the 202 awesomizes it in a way I didn't expect and my eq'ing no longer works. Esp for Long / Lo-Fi stuff, of course.
