i hear ya. i'm a total fumblefinger keyboard guy, so these keys are about as small as i can manage. but some cats can rock the microkorg-sized, so.
it worx with nanostudio 2.1 on, and i just upgraded the version i had so it works. there's a coupla sites that list the apps that are compatible with the device, if yr a-googlin.

Guitar Center is having some august sale, so i grabbed a Synthstation keyboard for 50 bucks, dropped down from 100. Its now compatible with that Xenon and Argon synth app. You can get some good fucking sounds out of those apps, and if they aernt good enough, a little resampling will get you there. The keyboard is small as fuck tho. Like the width of 2 DVD cases laying next to each other.
So if you were interested in it, grab it while its 50 bucks. Totally not worth 100 bucks now that i have it in my hands.
Works as a midi controller too, didnt know that before i bought it.

fauna wrote:i just picked up the akai synthstation lil 25 key controller. pretty great way to interface with synth apps on the pod / phone. the synthstation app is...okay...but there are some other, 3rd party apps that work as well. i've actually been having a blast with this little thing.
anyone else tried it out?
Im not too happy with the synthstation app, but i am very happy with the stock drums they have. Theres a bunch to work with and alot of them are nice as shit. Some tight snares and dumping kicks. Just that was worth the 1.99, screw the synths and everything else. I wish it worked with the NES sound emulator app. I love the old nintendo sound and be nice to play it with the 25 keys.

cool ^^ cool. 8-bit rules.
i have a tablet running android (honeycomb), so i've started looking into the android apps.
so far, they are neither as robust nor as plentiful as the iOS apps. but there are a few okay ones (electrum,RD3)....anyone using anything in android that they love?

Re: Best Ipad/pod/phone Beat Making Apps.
ya, i think im going to multisample the app into my Mv at some point. The synthstation doesnt work with that app and i cant bang out on that tiny ass ipod touch screen. But the sounds are great. Im learning to play the zelda theme on it but you have to change octaves throughout so its pretty hard. But it would be perfect to have multisamples of all the sounds this app makes. And that akai synthstation has some pretty nice drum samples.
