I had my kids involved in a project that I released a couple months ago, they helped me to make a beat also my oldest daughter designed the cover for it...
i have kids, but when they come to the studio i'm always busy to keep them to not touch too much the machines! i use to let them touch sp303 or sp606 or sp505; i have one (the youngest, 2 years old) wich likes very much when the turntable and vinyls are on.
no beats with them indeed (still), i have to teach to myself better to not be too much jelous of the machines.
I don't have kids but I have a bull-terrier that lets me know if the music is dope or wack, so he'll be up in the studio with me (an old closet).
He lays down by the speaker and smiles with his two front paws extended. That means the beat is rocking and he's enjoying it. When his ears go back, closes his mouth and leaves, then the beat is not very good so I cease from working on it and begin something else. He's a good critic.
Before him, I had a German Shepard that liked golden era Hip Hop. He'll stay in the room with me if I'm playing it but other types he stays away and hides. He even hangs out whenever I come home from digging and listens to the records with me. He has an obsession for Boogaloo Jones albums. He could be at the other side of the house and I play some Boogaloo Jones at low volume, he'll come rushing in the studio and lay down by the speaker like "aint nobody fuckin' wit Boogaloo Jones, this boy's bad".

i had the stupid idea to record my 3 year old son speaking the intro of a beat. now whenever i play some music other then his annoying kiddie music, he wants to listen to this beat with his voice on repeat. kids are crazy:)
