achinedrum vs emx 1

Post by Dj_just_jeff »

Can someone tell me the difference. Simply? I know the emx can't sample. The 1,100$ price difference is huge. Let me know Guys. I had a emz 1 and sold it and thinking about buying a second hand one to make drum and bass and broken beat stuff. Is the machinedrum that much better? Thoughts wanted. Thanks in advanced.

Hey!

The Machinedrum looks like its primarily a drum machine (that allows a little bit of sampling & harsh digital FM synthesis). Haven't used one but watched lotsa youtubes with it- its definitely more of a studio piece.

The EMX is mostly a synth with no sampling & limited drum tweaking compared to the Machinedrum. Its more suitable for playing live with all those dials etc. Probably not what you're after for making breaks.

If you got the cash & need tons of drum options go the Machinedrum. If you're after synths & something to play live go the EMX.

Or as a compromise if you want loads of drums, like the sound of the EMX & the way it works then go the ESX. I know a few tricks to get literally thousands of drums onto the ESX & ways to totally rip apart breaks with it. Happy to share them if anyone's curious too. The electribes can get overlooked pretty hard.
