Attack and decay?

Post by roboedar »

I tried using the search function for this but it kept coming back with an error. Looked on google and didn't find much either.

What are you guys doing to mimic adjustments to attack and delay?

Thanks

You can control the attack using the compressor.

As far as the decay, one good trick is to use the subsonic mfx and set it up where the bass is inaudible (high threshold). Quickly fade from dry to wet and you will get the sloped decay. Not great for really short decays, but with the right ninja combo you can bring out some magic.

When I sample bass notes a lot of times they need decay b/c of their abrupt cutoff, so I've been wondering the same thing. What I usually do is put reverb on them to get a smooth decay and just tap the bass pad real quick for the resample. I want to try to subsonic idea though.^^

one thing ive done with bass sounds that have the abrupt ending is use the volume contron on the voice trans (could be done using any effect with a volume control e.g distortion)

basically ill resample the bass sound but at the very end of it ill manually turn the volume knob down so that the bass sound ends with a kind of a fade out.

I resample w/ subsonic for attack and resample w/ reverb for decay.

Or I just adjust it live from the source / record in when sampling.
