Hello Roland Sp-404Sx users

I finally got my Roland Sp-404sx and was testing it yesterday. But I have 2 questions about Roland Sp-404sx

1) I normally make my loops on the computer, they are normally on a length of 1-2 min full (incl. drums, bass and guitar) I wanted to place one sample (1 .wav file) of 1-2 min on my pattern sequencer. So I placed one of my loops on one of the pads. How do I copy this full loop (1 .wav file) directly on the “patterns sequencer” play pad?
I tried myself by placing the loop (1 .wav file) on a normal pad first and then go to “patterns sequencer mode” record by holding down this 1 pad, it worked. But isn’t there an easier way to place a .wav file on the pattern sequencer pad?

2) I found out, that I had to set the record length – before I could record a loop on 1-2 min and I found out that the limit is 99, is there a way to turn off this limit and make it unlimited?

i'm sure he meant the whole thing and it wouldn't hurt to memorize it. but no 99 is the limit, furthermore you're limited to a set # of midi commands as well. you can always halve the bpm (of the pat. seq.).

oh and i keep my manual handy all the time so this is not me being an asshole. and if you get the hang of it there is some software floating around that might help. i don't know much about it as i rock a sp-404og.

manuals are truly awesome. check em out.

having said that...

2) nothing to do about 99-bars. But 99 bars become (effectively) 198 bars if you cut the tempo in half.

edit: argh, beat me to it. [waving fist and shouting as you ride off on your horse] I'll get you for this, JBL!!!

The only software i could find something about is the one we use here "External Pattern Sequence editor (EPSE404 v1.4a)" but its useless in my case. Same with the "SP-404SXWaveConverter" its nice, that i can copy my .wav file directly to a normaly pad - but not nice that i can't copy directly to the patternt pad too :/

yes that worked for me too and after i have to cut the empty part out to make it smooth - which is the hard part of it for me :/

what? so everytime i have to cut the emapty part?

I like manually slow and speed up
my BPM's in a live situation. Just wondering if the SP-404 can handle that?
