Saw one of these things on Guitar Center used section. Read a few reviews and what im wondering about is the editing. It has a big ass screen and it says that the editing is easier but id like to know a little more about it. Trimming, copy/paste a section of music numerous times, stuff like that. I cant find an image of the screen showing a waveform but i found one that shows the track layout which looks really similar to the MV and the sp 808.
Any info would be helpful, thanks

Johnny Canuck has one, don't know where the hell he's been. But in my opinion, if you got the MV then this is a waste. The MV can be used as an 8 track recorder and has the same editing capabilities as a VS. Which is one of the reasons why I copped the MV, its a DAW, sampler, sequencer, mixer, synth and cd recorder all rolled up into one which means less cables and less gear to fiddle with. Trust me, the MV is a beast, its just that people compare it to an MPC and think its just a beat machine, but read the panel for it says "Production Studio". I'm making my whole album on it and it blows me away the things it can do where it would've taken three pieces of gear to accomplish. The red paint to this fine piece is the load times. Just my two centavos.

I tend to agree with ill...I had a VS-880 and the learning curve was really high, the menus were deep, and it just got really old trying to navigate.

Here is a forum dedicated, with a lot of people who have tons of experience with these machines (all versions)

Thanks for the link. And your right Ill, the more i dig into this thing the more i realize that i could possibly just use that for recording and sequencing. I was just wondering about the VS anyways. I had the VS-840 8 track (until the shitty USPS lost/stole it and the dude got his fucking money back through paypal) (oh, and a sp 505). I wasnt really all about the VS till i figured out how to just record, add effects/eq, and bounce it. Then i loved it. So i wanted to know how the screen would assist in editing since the old Vs had these weird bars that you had to use to find your cue points and mark em.
Back to the MV. You might be able to answer a question since MV nation hasn't activated my account since i signed up like a few months back. Whenever i try to direct rec or resample the mix into an audio track, the volume is way lower than what was sent into the machine. No matter what (and ive done test) if i record some external sound into the MV or resample the mix, the volume is always really low. Havent figured that out yet.

Oh, the load times are crazy as fuck. Me and my buddy were getting wasted and wanted to freestyle, totally forgot about the MV because it took forever to load a beat.
Thanks for the responce, yo.

Yeah, the Nation can take several weeks before they let you in. You can handle that resample and direct rec problem two ways. 1) Normalize it or 2) Press Mixer and raise the volume of the track; by default, the MV puts tracks at 100, so in the mixer you can raise up the volume to 127 of each track. Thats why beats sound low.

Peace

Didn't even think to normalize it. Thanks for the tip. Now all the mv need to do is figure out a way do sidechain compression. I just tracked out a beat I made on the mv into Cubase. Made the track much better when I compressed it. I'll post it today when I get a chance.
