Recording guitar/keyboard music question

hi guys,

I'm currently messing around a lot with making a beat and afterwards adding a nice baseline, lead or whatever with my guitar or microKorg. All goes quite well, but is there a way to record whilst playing a pattern or a sample on the SP-606?

I don't like playing with a metronome, but it's what I need... or basically I'd like to hear the pattern so I can match my little keyboard jams and so on with it...

It scks to do this over and over again just to get the speed and length to match.

I think there's no way to sample with metronome on the sp-606, right?

The best way is to playback the pattern through the sp, record on a DAW, cut the loop in the DAW, and export it to the sp. There is no way to sample during playback, so your options are limited...

I think you may be able to sample with the metronome; just set the metronome to always on (press menu then system).

a thing i do with my 404 sometimes is:

record your pattern to a recorder, i use a br600 but u can use anything. one time i used a casette recorder on my stereo f.ex.

then put your 606 on autorecord(the 404 has this. guess the 606 has one to) then play back you pattern and jam onto it..

PS: you will have to hit the first note on the guitar wery excatly on beat..

i HATE metronomes (the sound does my head) but I need timing reference as much as the next person. What I do is get a hi-hat rythm that I like and play it from another source (i.e. a drum machine) into headphones, then play along to that. Works a treat.

Yeah, same here. I really don't like the annoying sound of metronomes either. Especially since it will almost always make me play in a specific "robotized" rhythm instead of really playing the jam I wanted to.

Anyways, thanks, I'll just have to record and playback using additional hardware.
