Aftermarket Power Supply For Fostex X15?

Post by hseiken »

Hey, I just got my first cassette multitracker, a Fostex X15 that I found at a pawn shop for 20 bucks. I figured the price was right, so I went for it!

However, it didn't come with a power supply. I have both the operator manual and service manual. The operator manual says only use the power supply it came with (obviously not an option) and the service manual states that the supply rating should be 11~15V not to exceed 350mA.

I went to RadioShack and bought a 12V 300mA supply (there were no 15V supplies less than 500mA) and it powered on (yay!) but when I tested out the motor, it shut off due to lack of juice! It then promptly reset itself and realized the play button was still pushed and died and restarted again until I hit stop. This also happened for FF and RW buttons as well, so I'm fairly certain it's not getting enough power to run the motors.

Does anyone here have an aftermarket power supply for this model and if so, which one do you have? Any help is golden to me! :)

Also, I want to have a known good power supply that someone else knows works to use on it so that if it continues this behavior, I konw it's something wrong with the unit and I can start troubleshooting the problem and get this puppy running.
