I'm looking to sell mine, too. Cool piece of gear, but I drowning in gear right now. Haven't had time to learn how to use the thing. I did think it was cool it has an agressive compressor if you want to get your drums pumping like the SP's.

Sampletraks are more rare than sp1200s........just saying. $140 is chump change in music land, you can spend that on quality cables and adapters. To each their own. I got my two 224s in boxes in the closest waiting for the apocalypse.

The SampleTrak 224 is as close to an E-mu SP-12, aurally, as you can possibly get at a fraction of the cost. It may not be 12 bit but by adjusting the sample rate, you can accomplish an identical sound. I've played a track produced on the ST for a Philly producer from the late 80s and he thought I was using an SP-12.

It's incredibly durable, can be found for cheap if you look hard enough, and with all the tips and tricks posted at the SampleTrak forum, the machine is that much more capable. Plus, the sample editing software that somehow made its way online makes this unit all the more accessible to the user. It was way ahead of its time when it was released in 1998 and went right under our noses. Give it an adequate chance. If you mess around with the sampling grades, re-sample your drums with the compressor, and again with lo-fi effect, your drums will knock harder than an SP-12(00).

The sequencer takes a while to get used to but if you listen to any of Lodger's, Formal's, or Juxt's work on the ST-224 you can create tight and infectious tracks. These guys work wonders with the ST.

The ST-224 along with Reaper is also a solid combination. If the ST had a sequencer that was as strong as the 404 or 505 and proper MIDI implementation, there's no doubt that it would probably be the go-to sampler instead of the Roland SP line.
