Hey thanks, man. Been working on a ship for the past few months. Time to start creating again. I did stop in a port and scoop up the new Shlohmo and Samiyam cd's. Made the trip go better.

I do dig the "LA beats" sound from Samiyam and Ras G but my tastes are heavily boombap oriented. I'd say the producer's I'm digging at the moment are Mophono, Jake One, Illmind, Suff Daddy, False Tropics, and MRR-ADM.

Albums I'm digging are: Marcberg by Roc Marciano, Gangrene- Gutter Water, been bumping some old Killarmy and Sunz of Man lately, Celph Titled & Buckwild's Nineteen Ninety Now woke me up while I was in a daze, Wu-Tang Legendary Weapons is pretty slick, I'm still stuck on Bullion's Pet Sounds album, Riki 2oh2's Raw Tape Hiss joint was fresh, and the SP-202 tape that featured Lou Ferrigno and Flash Gordon was dirty.

I think just more innovation as guys like soosh do. That being said Im always looking for new dope stuff. I honestly listen to a lot of yellow tangerine, filthy ingredients and juno akasawa on my iphone soundcloud app.

Ya, see I was wondering if you were cool with that and to what degree he was flipping your joints. I thought of it kind of in the "microwave" style of DTCPU

Flipping NEW POPULAR joints. I think it's interesting but there is a fine line between biting/jacking and flipping/remixing.

I don't think there is a post brainfeeder yet. As soon as the herds start catching up with a style, the folks in that camp already seem to be steps ahead on some new shit. Just as folks were wrapping their mind around FlyLo, he goes and gets Thundercat and an orchestra. Not many laptop dudes have that kind of access.

I don't think the threadstarter had meant any disrespect...I mean what he knows. Its definitely some exciting time in music right now. You don't need to have a well stocked local cd store to get your influences and people are getting more experimental than ever.

well the "post-brainfeeder" wasn't meant all that serious - more of a joke riding all that "2-behind-your-back-down-the-stairs-step" genre naming thing.
I am currently just looking for new stuff and inspiration. I think the beat scene is still growing, but (to me) its already starting to grow old soundwise. I am definately not a guy pretending to push music or anything, so don't get me wrong, but the freshness of the starting times (when I got into listening to those sounds) 2-3 years ago is definately not as strong today. Thats why I am already on the lookout again.
So Brainfeeder is still going strong, even a big german daily newspaper had an article about flylo and the "la beat scene" in it a months ago, so they are definately hitting it off and still growing and expanding. obviously there are people out there lusting for that kind of experimentation, which is awesome!

I was just wondering if there was something new out there I might have overlooked before... but maybe its too early to already expect some real form of emancipation from the la sound. I am super curious what this sound aesthetic will grow into. You can already see some fresh branches growing with Soosh and Panorama going heavily into the soundscape mode, and on the other hands sp cats doing the craziest, most wonky lofi flips I have ever heard. so there is activity and a worldwide urge to push that sound even further... exciting times!

Just gonna say that whole idea of microwave "remixes/flips" whatever is just really fucking stupid. You get more attention and attraction simply because you used "samiyam" and "dibiase" in the text.

To those unsure about the orignal song or artist are still gonna link it up with the "remixer"...

also, remixes were made because hit tunes would need be altered to suit different environments/clubs and shit to further promote the MAIN artist and sub promote the remixer (for free)... All these dudes flipping other dudes creative joints and making beats throwing acapellas over them calling it all simply a remix for their own promo is just irritating...

I hope not, he's not the king of this "beat scene" or anything. I don't like the idea of all these cats being recognised under the wing of ONE dude or label.

Already now people are saying "Yo nice beats, sounds like flylo" (or samiyam and too many times I've seen cats argue about someone "sounding" like samiyam when really they didnt at all) I see that shit on youtube all the time.

SENSEIHIMSELF
CULP

worse when the complainers dont even make music themselves haha

I'm ready for post-drake. The further we can get away from whatever wackness Drake is making, the world will be a better place. Even LL Cool J thinks this shit is soft.
