hardware issue (new Here)

Post by johnmirra »

Hi yo, im new to the boards. I just got a 404 3 months ago from a friend and been going crazy at it. But I've been experiencin this problm, whenever I hold on one pad on a bank and try to play another from another bank of same bank, my 404 skips, acts crazy. Its a pretty big issue when making pattern. I think I may need to reset it or sumthing. Help me out peeps (thnx in advanced)

when this happens, how many samples are playing already? I'm not a 404 owner but i'll take a crack and say it might be the polyphony maxxed out? if you're using stereo samples this might be the case.

Yeah, maybe the memory card is faulty or it needs to be formatted again.

Yeah it could be, i read the manual after i putted the first card in and heard a crackle LOL! so i probably fucked it up, and the manual says that you dont have to push the card too hard in to the reader. im going to buy a new 404 soon i think

Try Transcend cards. I have an 8 GB Transcend that I've never had problems with. Soon, I'm going to order a few more.

Well i used another card and now everything is fine in terms of banks and shit. guess the two other cards i had were too old. But Im having a problem with pattern mode. when ever i make patter and want to make another one at a different bpm, it changes the bpm of the other pattern ive made. Is this a typical problem for old 404s?

patterns don't save bpm, gotta change it live, you can play any pattern at any bpm, just hit the BPM button while in pattern mode, patterns playing or not, and change it, gotta practice your accuracy, thing can be touchy if your comin in with a strong grip

pretty sure that bpm is universal, and you gotta set it for whatever tune you're working on.
