Glitch mob rjd2 photek in LA last night

saw photek, rjd2 and glitch mob in LA last night. i was 2/3 utterly disappointed.

photek- zzzzzzzzzzzz. his eyes were half shut most of his set. but he did occasionally put his hands in the air and point. his music is boooring. i honestly believe most if not all of us here could do a hell of a lot better.

RJD2- RJ was the one saving grace of the evening. great performance. he was using 3 turntables (actual records!) a korg padkontrol with loops and samples and an MPC. not a laptop or headphones in sight. wow. and he was humble, funny, really seemed like a down to earth guy.

GLITCH MOB- ok, on to the biggest letdown, the glitch mob. going into this, i didn't know much about them (shame on me for not investigating more) but i figured i'd throw caution to the wind. this band is ALL SHOW. stage show looks like tron, and they appear to be 'playing' ipad/atm machines and occasionally whack an electronic drum. i can't begin to explain how disheartening the performance was. BLAND BLAND BLAND GENERIC electro music. every song used virtually the SAME synth and drum sounds. and the guys in the 'band' were REALLY pumped up on themselves. i mean i found it really upsetting. who the hell is giving these guys money? did they win the lottery? i DON"T GET IT. AT ALL.

so, i guess i just had to vent. but also, just wanted to warn everybody..AVOID THE GLITCH MOB. if they had half as much musical talent as they have neon and lasers, they might actually be worth checking. GLITCH MOB = SHIT BLOB

yeah glitch mob are huge posers.. they deliberately make big dramatic movements that fit the timing of the music, which probably works great on a big pop concert stage but for geeks who wanna see gear get workd and proper parties I dont think theyd be very fun

I seen the glitch mob back in 09 when they used their old set up and had old material of just 3 dudes and laptops and midi controllers. And the set was bananas.

then i seen them on the tour before the one they are on now. and it was not a fun experience in the least. the music has been dumbed down for some reason, I dont understand. And they were banging on spd's for not apparent reason.

The music has been dumbed down and live performance has been brought to the forefront. weak.
