Ok so I'm new here and naturally have a coule of quick (hopefully easy to answer) questions okay first question...in the battles that have a sample chosen already do you have to sample from the source provided or if you own the record can you sample straight from vinyl? 2nd if didn't provide a beat can you stoll vote?

1) if you own the record and the version of the sample you have is the same as the one provided in the battle topic you can sample from your own vinyl. Sample is the same, and it will makes things easier for you so why not doing it. I bet guys out here wont mind.

2) yeah, you always can vote, even if you didnt participate in the current battle

welcome aboard!

as for the sample thing.. I think... if there is only a certain part of the sample uploaded, you should only use that.. like you cant use a bit that someone else doesnt have access to, but besides that, yeah go for it

Thanks elhuana and cartesia. Yeah I figure that using extra bits not availible to all would be unfair and thankyou for the clarification. I didn't mean to sound like a snob for asking that I just happen to have an extensive record collection and I own many of the vinyl containing the songs used as sample material and drum breaks. I am able to sample from the computer but the way my setup is configured its easier to sample vinyl. Thanks again.

Welcome! I might add one thing... It might be unfair if you pitch your vinyl up or down, set to different speeds. But otherwise I don't see a problem.
