sounds like extreme slow beats and atmospheric layer stuff is the new big thing after the brainfeeder hype. guys like soosh and rooflight leading the way. what do you guys think of this stuff? I can get into it for sure, just curious what the real beatheads think.
some examples
http://soundcloud.com/rooflight
http://soundcloud.com/panorama510/vanilla-aeon-no-where
http://soundcloud.com/soosh/

on the hiphop/ beatside of things I am really feeling some japanese work right now. guys like ichiro, Daisuke Tanabe, Mfp Beats and RLP beats are still pushing things.

http://soundcloud.com/daisuketanabe

what are your discoveries that you believe are pushing things / just sound new and fresh to you? please share - need some input for sure , ha

I really like Paul White's stuff, and I've been listening to alot of Burial and Fourtet.. I def think things are moving of being less genre specific..i dig it, it's def needed

I don't think we're "post brainfeeder" yet. I think theres still a lot to offer from post dilla space future beats. I've been asking this question "whats next?". I think just more innovation as guys like soosh do. That being said Im always looking for new dope stuff. I honestly listen to a lot of yellow tangerine, filthy ingredients and juno akasawa on my iphone soundcloud app.

Nice, will check the recommendations in this thread.

Bridge, regarding the "post brainfeeder" - I agree, just wanted some attention ;) also thanks for the props! you are a beatmaking machine for sure, will you ever stop ? I don't know how you do it, but I feel that you put out a min. of 3 dope beats per week.

I just imported the vinyl of the DZA- Zoo Keeper EP. It rules. The first song's one of the most rediculously fun, dumb tracks I've heard in years. Plus its waaay better than similar dudes like Hudson Mohawke & Rustie.

Check this dude Jonti and his new LP Twirligig. Possibly my favorite release this year. He's got LA Beat scene taste, but has a real ear for catchy melodies and adds Pet Sounds-like harmonies. On top of that...he piles on psychedelic whirs and delays. Lots of depth...I notice something new on each listen.

Hell yeah, Jonti is fresh. Like Hiphop and the Beatles mixed in the best way possible! Glad you're back, btw - new tracks are dope!
