How can i use effects for a hole bank? help!
hey there.
i just got my sp 404 from ebay and im trying to find my way in.
I will use it for my band live.
My idea was to sample different notes and chords from my 1970 string synth.
So i wanted to put them all on one Bank. C/G for example.
With one hand i want to play a melody and with the other controlling the cutoff for example.
But everytime i hit the next Pad the effect goes off right?
So PLEASE tell me there is a way to controll the overall cutoff, or delay whatever, on to the whole Bank.
And if it really shouldnt be possible, do you know a sampler wich does effects on the output?
Tank you very much,
cheers

You can have efx on all the samples if you want. And to answer your second question, you already own a sampler that can send effects to your outputs
I mean c'mon are you playing with it or just looking at it? jk
Just turn on whatever effect you want and hold down Remain button while the other hand taps the pads you want the efx on, even the Ext. pad to wet incoming signals. Check it out.

wow I never knew EXACTLY how remain worked, I always just used it to "transfer" my effects didn't realize you could hold it like that... Thanks for the info Ill Green. I'm gonna mess with it but quick question, using remain removes the effect from the other pad doesn't it? Like if the sample wasn't on gate and was playing out, then I hit remain and some other pads, the effect would keep changing from one to the other right?

Yeah, Remain is just letting the effect remain on a pad as you apply the effect to other pads so Pads 1 to 12 could be laced with Overdrive if you want. But if I wasn't holding down Remain, then when I hit another pad and hit mfx or such effect, the effect abandons the previous pad and wets the new tapped pad.
You can delete multiple samples with Remain too.

and a last stupid question from my side:
can u save a effect to a certain pad? so that you for example say, C/G 1 has delay, C/G 2 has ringmod.
or do you always have to reassigne the effect you want?
thx

Not sure about the 404SX, but no you can't save the effect. Resampling can help that though. The Korg ESX though saves the effect and knob settings.

To take it one step further, you can put a single effect on ALL pads on ALL banks by holding remain and pushing the desired effect button. A little time-saving trick so you don't have to sit there with one finger on remain while you select each pad individually. Good for multiple samples that reside in multiple banks. At least this is how it is on the 404sx. Not sure about the others.

I know on the 555 if you want to apply an effect to all pads in just the bank you are working in hit effect assign and pads 1 and 16 at same time. Dont know if this works with the 404. I think that has twelve pads? So it might work by hitting pads 1 and 12? You can also press delete and press all your pads at once then delete again. Whole bank erased, instead of hitting them one by one.
