Recommend me some books to read
Where I've been living for the summer, i have no internet, no computer and no music stuff
So I've been reading like crazy when I have the energy to after work

Lately I've been reading books by Haruki Murakami, been wanting somethign different.

Those are on my to-read list. I only recently started to really get into reading books, so I'm also trying to catch up on all the things i should of read when I was younger haha.

I just started The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and 1984 will be after that.

I picked up a kindle a few months ago and it's pretty awesome. On par with my sp303 haha.

Auster is pretty great. Plus one on City of Glass, but I liked Moon Palace too.

You tried Don DeLillo? White Noise was solid but Mao II ruled.

Check out (fellow CDN) Michael Ondaatje...depending on what yr in no, you may dig In The Skin of a Lion, or Running In the Family.

For non-fiction, you should check out New Jack by Ted Conover....very cooooo.

Grab "The art of Hip Hop Sampling". Its a good read, has some interviews and some interesting tips from old school DJ's.

Books rule.

Pretty much anything by Philip K Dick if you like scifi, about a bajillion hollywood blockbusters (Minority Report, Paycheck, Blade Runner, etc etc) have been based on his books but his books are way, waaaay better than any of the movies.

I got into Cormac McCarthy recently, The Road is dope (dark, kind of touching) and No Country For Old Men is on my shortlist.

Cosign on the Murakami, I might need to check out Auster now as well.

If you like semi-surreal, extremely clever short stories then Jorge Luis Borges is the man. There are many collections of his stories but Labyrinths has some of the best ones.

Also I just started reading the Tibetan Book of the Dead. It's a lot more badass than you might think, lots of demons and deities and descriptions of the process your spirit goes through after you die.

OH and if you can deal with the somewhat old fashioned style writing,
HG Wells was amazingly prescient for his time... some of his ideas eerily predicted radiation/nuclear tech
