old post but can you help me find this fade sw function.
iv looked through the manual and had a good dig about the 808 but no luck.

mine has the os 1. do i need to upgrade?

You should be able to find it under song,called 'fade sw'.If not,You need to upgrade os.

what does fade sw do. Ive seen it but i never messed with it.

It ramps the volume(like adsr envelope with attack and same for when you release it fades)to avoid the clicks You get when triggering samples.Basically just quickly(faster than You can notice)fades the sample in when you play it and then out when You let go,so that the waveform isnt clipped due to being at a non-zero point when you play/stop it.
