I dont think anybody really tried to make synthesisers simulate certain sounds, they just come up with a synthesis technique that has lots of possibilities...

Checked out some bassoon on youtube, I think it could be done somehow, not sure though.. I had never heard that bassoon couldnt be synthesised.. it is kind hard to do reed-ish sounds, but perhaps combining a couple layers together would get pretty close

It's a joke from Music 2000. Same people who made Look Around You on BBC. The skit is Synthesizer Patel. Basically they say u can't replicate a bassoon but every shitty casio came with a bassoon patch and 20 others that sound exactly the same. lol. My favorite part is the synth with all the random calculator keys on it.

Synthesizer Patel, Synthesizer Patel, Synthesizer Paaaaaaaatelllll.

Love that ish, the water synth is my favorite.

I think this is also a take off on the Mr Rogers Bruce Haack episode, the only clip of which I can find is this pretty shitty one:

So in closing, to totally digress from the original post: the Bruce Haack docu is worth checking out.

yeah i was just kidding, sorry for anyone who didnt get it, hey, the best way to make crazy ass sounds is go around your house and sample things like water dripping or the spring that stops the door, add fx , and then strech the sounds to a couple minutes with software keeping the pitch or not, and you can invent crazy sounds like this .
