Compact Flash Card and Reader Question

Post by LilWayne »

Would this USB Compact flash card reader work?
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... ductdetail

I see where you plug the usb in to plug into the computer.. but I dont see where I plug my card into the actual reader.

And will this card work for my 606?
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 9396518747

The flash card seems a little small for the SP-606.

The card and the drive apparently will work together.. but I just dont see on the drive where I put in the Compact Flash drive.

Thanks for your help.

You don't need a card reader with the 606 like the other SP's. Simply plug in the USB cable to you computer and use the SP in 'USB Mass Storage' mode to transfer files. :D

I believe that the 2GB card is too large for the 606. I have one and i cant get it to work. In the manual they have details for cards up to 512MB, which hold about 200 minutes of samples. My guess is 512 is as big as you can go.

And if I dont need the Card Drive Reader then how on my computer do I transfer the files? Will it pop up in a folder under, "My Computer"?

Insert the card into the SP and plug the SP via usb. On the SP, hit the menu button and select USB mass storage. Follow on screen instructions and on your pc a disk named "Fuguefat" should appear...

Yep that card *should* be fine.... never had a problem with SanDisk or Kingston - these two brands are rock solid.

Camera shops are a good place to shop for CF cards 8)

SanDisk is one of the industry leaders in solid state memory.

Maybe we could start a list of 1 or 2 GB cards that actually work, since 512 MB cards are increasingly hard to find. It's nice that the 1 and 2 GB cards are getting cheaper, but not if they don't work.

I got a Dane-Electric 1 GB card from a good camera store (they didn't even have any 512 MB cards anymore), thinking it was a safe bet, and it doesn't work in the 606.

Yeah I agree with loopyspmon - a list of 1g cards that work would be good. The problem is, storepeople can't understand that all CF cards are not the same. When I say that I have a specific piece of equipment that is fussy about cards, they always say that 'this one WILL work'. Make sure you can get your money back before buying and report any that don't work as well as any that do 8)

I tried a SanDisk Ultra II 2GB and had no luck. Haven't tried the 1GB, but it seems like a 512mb SanDisk card is the largest the 606 can handle.
