Way Around Loop Mode...

Post by yo-yo crunch »

not sure if this has been addressed before but it only came to me after having an sp for several years.

so that thing about loop mode where you can't hit the pad again if you want to start the sample before the marked endpoint: you have to hit the pad twice quickly to stop and start it again, which leaves that awkward gap of silence--i'm sure everyone knows what i'm talking about.

but if you hit your sample pad and the [sub] pad at the same time, it will stop and start the sample basically in one motion and the pad plays from the start with no stutter. pretty cool ya?

Nice find! I'm assuming this only works for the 404, 555 and 606 since they have the sub pad.

yeah i was gonna post in the 404 section but then i thought it might be applicable to other sp's too. came to me after reading blavatsky's post in the 555 section. he was talking about the sub pad for rolls and i just started messing w it

sort of the opposite of the hold button when you want something to loop when its not in loop mode

Dope find. Usually I take a looped sample then copy it to another pad with Clipboard and just set the copied sample to One Shot or Drum to make it stutter. Works for the 505 and 606. Can the 555 and 404 copy samples?

yes exactly the same thing, but for me using the sub pad is more musical and involves less thinking. not like hitting the loop button is so difficult but sometimes i get confused if i'm hitting other pads too

yeah that's the best thing but if you want to save pad space it can be good...
the og 404 cant copy samples but resampling to another pad's just as easy. pretty sure the 404sx and 555 can copy though not positive
