I find it odd that Best Buy would carry them even though the dude said only 1,000 units have been manufactured.

I'm glad they actually got to the point of releasing a piece of hardware, despite the horrible name and marketing scheme. The more groove boxes and samplers on the market the better. $1500 definitely sounds a little high. I wonder what the file structure will be like for sample storage and organization... and how long it will be before they start popping up on ebay for half the retail price. 8)

I'm sure they tried to have em at guitar center but got laughed at. I think it looks pretty cool, reminds me of the mc 909 in a way with a similar sequencer and the sample edit screen. The name is dumb.

I'm actually interested in the Blang and other effects. I bet people though Vinyl Sim was cheesy when it came out. Now its a movement! I was they made a dork version for nerds in glasses instead or people who drive lambos and wear leather jackets.

I will say that, in 5 years when these things are on ebay for like $250-300, I'll take two please! If this was packaged and marketed differently (e.g. it didn't say "blang" anywhere on it and it wasn't sold at Best Buy or whatever), this thing would get some love dup in here. Based solely on its features, this thing would be a welcome addition to my bedroom.

lol Bridge, from what I saw, I think the Blang button is to adjust the brightness of the LEDs around the outside

It could actually become the new roland tb/tr thing that set off a generation - if they dump them in cheap bins for like $100

Although I'm not sure what new style people could come up with given the sampler has been done to death

I'd probably buy one if they started showing up cheap in a few years, to their credit sample chopping does look dope but the price tag is just ridiculous right now. For 1500 you could get a 4k or an MV, easily the two most powerful sampling workstations out there, and still have a large chunk of cash leftover for a few hundred records or whatever else. So what are you paying for with this box? Portability? Dual SD card support? Or just "blang" factor? The grill on the front of that thang does look pretty tempting but to be honest if I wanted a blang sampler I could have one for about the cost of a screwdriver and a can of gold spraypaint

Don't forget all the people the Beat Kangs ripped off with their software and not to mention their bad customer support. On the box it says minimum 256MB on Pentium 3 at 500mHz. My laptop runs on Intel i5 and it crashes whenever I attempt to use the software, when I called for help, Aja told me that my computer sucks and that I should of gotten a mac. How's that for customer service. And the issues to make this a great product were ignored. Its impossible to MIDI anything to the Beat Thang because so much data is missing. They said don't worry next update will have MIDI capabilities and that was in 2009 and it never happened.

I was also one of the suckers who put down 500 dollars toward the hardware, they really wanted 1,000 dollars but I said when the product is ready, then I'll drop the other half. Anyway after all the BS they gave me, I demanded a refund and they were hard-up about it too and insulted me some more. After 3 months I threatened them with a lawsuit and thats when my money was refunded.

Limited 1,000 units mean that after all the suckers buy them they can just disappear leaving you with a hunk of crap and change their name. Dallas Austin is just getting paid. Boom Bap came to MPC-Forums himself explaining what a snake Aja is and left the Beat Kangs.

Don't believe the hype, or in thi case, don't believe the blang.

At this time with the economy how it is you can buy a MV8800 for less than $600 and a 4K for ~$750... I was following 2 MV8800 today and both ended for less than $600 good condition, maxed RAM, HDD (no 6 outputs tho) but hey! lol...
