SP-606 & Propellerhead Reason

I would like to SYNC these two production w.m.p.'s (weapons of mass PRODUCTION)...

1. I would like to be able to hit play on my 606 and have it launch my reason patterns...

2. I would also like to be able to hit play on Propellerhead Reason and have it sync'd to my 606, which will automatically be recording (sampling) my Reason audio...

3. I would also like to be able to change the BPM in Reason and have it simultaneously change in my 606.

That is all I want for christmas...can ya'll help me on this one???

I've never even been in the same room as Reason, so I'm no help

What I do know though, is that it's heaps easier getting the 606 in sync with regular midi cables and a regular interface than it is to get it to work through the USB cable (I'm lazy though, it must be said).

I just think it's dope to chop up Reason beats on the 606...

For sure; I don't use Reason, but I do use software a lot. taking things from the comp and giving them the '606 treatment' is the bomb

One thing more I remembered is the whole 'slave' thing. If you want your 606 to sync TO the comp, it needs to be in slave mode. Reason should have the option to 'send midi clock' (most software sequencers do).

Provided you've got the MIDI cables hooked up right between your interface and the 606, and the 606 is in slave mode, you should be good to go.

One thing to remember though is that loops (playing on the 606) will get way out of shape if they are not set up properly (using loop mode and with BPM sync set up). Even then you can't go more than +/- 10 bpm without disaster occuring. No such problem with sequences though; I tend to use few loops on the 606 these days - sequences are better even though they take more polyphony.

Yeah, just hook up a midi cable from your 606 to your computer and link the playback of samples in reason to the 606 midi notes that trigger when the pads are played. What part of Seattle do you live in?

reason can only be slave...seems alot of what you want is dependent on Reason being master (except #1)

you could rewire Reason into Cubase or Ableton, which could act as MIDI master

Reason sucks so bad the only thing propellerhead did right was recycle way back in the day.
