it is better to unplug your laptop if you want the ultra best quality when recording, it disconects you from the power grid eliminating any hum or buzz, i was watching some wannabe forensic audio dude, and he was talking about how scientists can can sample your power noise and find out when you made your recording and where you live, there is internet in the power lines to but its obscure stuff and unrelated. if you dont expereince any kind of buzz or hum ever from havingyour laptop plugged in then this might not be useful to you. but a good way to scramble your tracking hum is to pitch your samples and bounce with effects and stuff and use crazy compression and formats would scramble it a bit too.

Interesting thought, I wouldnt trip off it. Every time you move a fader in your daw it changes the math and degrades the audio a minimal amount. things like that can drive you mad so you just have to use your ears and if its dope its dope. It good to know that stuff though just to be aware.

Ha that's an ill thought, geolocation from power-source hum. I'm going to guess having an external soundcard would potentially affect it as well though?
