Question about a beat I wanna remake

Post by Jakkel Je »

so this wiz song, the statement, samples beautiful boys by yoko ono. i was just trying to remake the wiz beat as similar as possible with the part of the yoko song it sampled.

^this is what i'm talking about. after i sampled the yoko song, i simply sped the BPM up as much as it goes but it still couldn't match the speed of the wiz beat. i also don't understand the pitch of the wiz beat (yes i've had very little experience with my 404). i'm not trying to get it exact, but i think this is a good practicing technique; remaking favorable beats that can be done with just a sampler.

is this something that couldn't be done on the sp-404?

you'll probably have to chop the (2 bar) sample into 2 or 4 parts, then trigger them manually to get that faster tempo. also can pitch it up in garageband or other software. the pitch in the 404 doesn't sound that clean

not sure but you might be able to do that in audacity too. its free, check it out.
but even if you can't pitch it, you could still remake the beat
