Which audio interface?

yo!
i'm a complete noob in hardware stuff and i will confess that only today i realized that my recordings sound shitty because i use mono mic input on my notebook. hence, i need an interface. could you please recommend which one i should get? my needs are simple.
*i'm always broke and hungry, so price matters.
*i use linux, so linux compatibility would be a plus.
*i need to simply record from my SP to Ardour on my notebook.

i finally got a chance to test my berhinger u control 202, and I must say for 9 bucks this thing rocks, it might be a tad fuzzier than protools but it wins compared to my llaptop sound card. which cant do anything without spending 8 hours learning to hack your registry every time you want to do something with it ha.

those are relatively cheap (esp used) and do their job
